I want to welcome you to my campaign Web site and thank you for taking the time to learn more about my efforts to be your next State Representative for the 71st District. Although this Web site doesn’t contain everything you may want to know,  it gives you access to learn more about me and my family, make a contribution, and sign up as a volunteer. Of course, the content of this Web site will change as we enter different phases of the campaign, so I hope you will visit it often.
I have truly been blessed to have had the opportunity to give back to my community over the past 30 years; as a church volunteer, a parent involved in school activities, a City Councilor, and as Mayor of Charlotte, and now as the Republican nominee for State Representative. My life has been enriched by the wonderful people I have gotten to know and my commitment to public service grows stronger every day.
It is humbling to know that there are people all over Eaton County who support me and have confidence in my leadership. Of course, my greatest support comes from my husband, Steve, and my children, Matthew and Christa. I would not be able to continue in public service without their understanding and encouragement.
In this era of term limits and a challenging economy, it is critical that our next State Representative have experience and a proven track record. I know what it takes to get things done in Lansing, having worked for several legislators in the Michigan House and Senate. I have been tested as an elected official and have the passion, experience, and dedication to public service the people of Eaton County deserve in their next State Representative.
It takes a tremendous amount of time and financial resources to run a comprehensive, broad-based campaign, and that is why I hope you will join my team. I assure you I will deliver a positive and practical message of commonsense leadership.

Core Values
Jobs and the economy
We should not rely on government to create jobs; this is best done by the private sector. The role of government is to create an atmosphere where businesses can thrive and grow. In order to make Michigan competitive once again, we must reduce taxes and regulation on business in a responsible manner; with a goal of helping our businesses put people to work.
Government spending
In light of the state’s current economic conditions, the State Legislature must reduce spending and enact the necessary reforms to make the people’s government operate more efficiently. We cannot continue to spend more money than we have and waste taxpayers’ money on programs that are irresponsible and unaccounted for.
Protecting life
I believe a fundamental responsibility of government is to provide for the public safety of its people - all of its people, including the lives of the unborn.
Education
The education of our young people is critical to our state’s future and the Legislature must ensure our children receive quality education that is accessible to all students and provides parents a variety of options that are best suited for their children.
Agriculture in Michigan
Michigan’s greatest asset is its natural resources and the agriculture industry in Michigan is vital to the state’s success. We must utilize this resource and strengthen the state’s promotion of agribusiness.
Second Amendment
Our constitution guarantees the right to bear arms and we must protect our citizens’ rights to carry a weapon and protect their families as they see fit. I will not support legislation that weakens or erodes this constitutional right.
Sanctity of Marriage
I believe the institution of marriage should be preserved for one man and one woman and will not support legislation that erodes this principal.
